AIR Workshop: Getting the Best from Your People

Managing employees of your restaurant can at times present you with some of the most challenging situations with running a business. Not dealing with issues in the right way can have a big impact on an independent restaurant as every employee’s contribution has an impact on how well things run.

Some managers find themselves in situation where they know that they need to do something but there is a fear of getting it wrong, making things worse or things ended up in an Employment Tribunal.

In this workshop attendees are asked to bring along real-life situations that they are facing and Mark Pearce, the founder of (my) hr director will be on hand to answer your questions and find pragmatic solutions to help you.

Here are some examples of issues that could be brought to the workshop:

  • Managing employee performance including giving feedback and taking disciplinary action

  • Dealing with attitude problems

  • Responding to grievances

  • Managing health issues

  • Resolving communication breakdown between two or more team members

  • Motivating your team

  • Reducing staff turnover

  • Employees resisting changes you want to make

The workshop will be tailored to what those attending want to focus on. Attendees will be asked to keep the content of the meeting confidential and not to use the real names of any employee being discussed.

For more details about (my) hr director please visit here.

Topic: Can a tronc save you money and be ethical?

Venue: Strand Palace Hotel, 372 Strand, London, WC2R 0JJ

At the next AIR workshop, tronc expert, Peter Davies, will discuss the benefits of running an ethical tronc scheme. He will cover how to set-up and manage tax-compliant systems that are in the best interests of both your business and your staff, as well as being transparent to your customers.

Key topics will include:

  • What is an ethical tronc?
  • Tronc scheme design and setup
  • The future of tronc
  • Current government and media opinions and misconceptions
  • National Minimum Wage issues
  • The shrinking labour market

Peter Davies is the Managing Director of WMT Troncmaster Services Limited. He and his team advise on and run troncs for over 300 hospitality businesses across the UK. Specialising in ethical and compliant tronc management, 78% of the team’s new clients come from referrals and recommendations.

AIR Workshop

We relentlessly pursue great deals on your behalf and so are very excited to announce that Peter Davies of WMT chartered accountants has agreed to work with AIR Hospitality.

This is exciting news. Well-known within our industry for their expertise in tronc schemes and keeping businesses on the right side of the employment tax rules. WMT also helps independent companies to grow with their accounting, tax, payroll and corporate finance support.

WMT’s hospitality team is led by tronc and employment tax specialist, Peter Davies.

You will get a better chance to meet and chat with Peter because he has kindly offered to host an AIR Hospitality Workshop on November 8th.

Peter will be explaining how AIR members can avoid making costly mistakes when trying to meet the National Minimum Wage regulations. He will also show you how a tronc scheme can benefit your business and your employees.
